The original Jujutsu Kaisen ended with Sukuna’s defeat, Gojo’s death, and a world that came out the other side of the Shinjuku Showdown completely unrecognizable. Most people figured that was it. But Gege Akutami is back with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, a sequel set 68 years in the future. He’s introducing a new generation of sorcerers, an alien species known as the Simurians, and a new level of power that’s already threatening to rewrite everything that’s been thought about this world thus far. The power rankings have changed significantly and we’re here to present the five strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo and what they can actually do in a fight.
1. Yuji Itadori

Where Dabura represents the peak of the Simurians, Yuji Itadori represents the complete opposite, the peak of humanity. With his introduction in Modulo Chapter 19, it was immediately clear just what kind of fighter he has become. Yuji began with Piercing Blood, using it to take down an entire building full of sorcerers and Simurians. That level of Blood Manipulation exceeds anything Choso ever managed to do with the ability and Choso was the best user in the series, until now.
Not only that, the level of destruction his Dismantle ability can produce is absolutely terrifying, creating two gigantic explosions. It has advanced to the point where the sheer scale of the ability is comparable to Sukuna’s Divine Flame and Gojo’s Hollow Purple. That’s not an easy feat to achieve. Yet perhaps the most telling aspect of just how far Yuji has come in Modulo is the fact that he appears to use Black Flash at will.
2. Dabura Karaba

Aside from Yuji, no character in Modulo has ever been more instrumental in testing the limits of the power ceiling of the verse than Dabura Karaba and the reason for this is his arsenal of Cursed Techniques. He uses two Cursed Techniques in battle, both of which are very hard to classify under the context of Jujutsu on Earth.
The first Cursed Technique is represented in the manga with the symbol ████, essentially censored due to the fact that the activation word is a concept unique to the Deskunte tribe that cannot be directly translated into human languages. The Cursed Technique grants the ability to imbue something that exists with killing intent.
The second Cursed Technique, Light, is simpler in concept but no less dangerous in application, essentially giving Dabura the ability to manifest and manipulate light as an attack. What makes Dabura different from most characters is that in Chapter 20, while in the middle of an ongoing battle with Mahoraga, Dabura Karaba activated Cursed Technique Reversal after reversing the flow of Cursed Energy in his body and transformed his Cursed Technique Light into Darkness. His ability to learn is on par with Gojo where he instantly understood how to activate Domain Expansions in the same battle.
3. Mahoraga

Mahoraga’s strength is not based on technique diversity or destructive output. It is based on a single ability that makes all other techniques in the verse functionally obsolete if given enough time: universal adaptation.
Mahoraga adapts to all phenomena. This adaptation is visible through the rotation of its eight-handled Dharma wheel. The wheel begins to turn as soon as Mahoraga is hit, representing the adaptation in progress. The rotation speeds up if hit with the same technique again. Finally, the adaptation is complete, and the technique no longer works.
The full extent of this ability is best understood through its most impressive display. Mahoraga adapted to Gojo’s Infinity, a defense mechanism that operates at the atomic level and was thought to be completely impenetrable throughout the entirety of the original series.
What makes this ability especially impressive is that it is not the only tool Mahoraga brings to a fight. Mahoraga is a legitimate force in physical combat, being strong enough to send someone through several buildings in a single strike and fast enough to catch Gojo off guard. The primary weapon in Mahoraga’s arsenal is the Sword of Extermination, a sword enveloped in positive energy that is especially effective against cursed spirits.
4. Maru

Maru’s cursed technique “Chaos and Harmony” is one of the most conceptually unusual abilities in the history of JJK. It manipulates the natural laws of order in a small area, causing small objects to levitate and water to shift from pool temperature before immediately starting to boil and freeze. That alone is unusual. However, the part that makes it particularly frightening is the fact that Maru doesn’t have to be conscious for it to work. A technique that can be used even when the wielder is unconscious has no off switch in a fight. The implications of this cannot be overstated.
When Maru used it in his fight with Tsurugi Okkotsu, it was impossible for Tsurugi to counter. Tsurugi was unable to adjust to it. Maru would have killed Tsurugi on the spot if Rika hadn’t intervened. The only way Tsurugi was able to temporarily disable it was by using the Split Soul Katana and creating significant backlash for Maru’s third eye. That is not a counter. That is a desperate measure.
What is also remarkable about Maru is the extent of what his ability can accomplish beyond fighting. In Chapter 9 of the series, Maru used his Cursed Energy to manipulate giant reserves of Mul excavated by his late mentor and constructed the spaceship the Simurians arrive in during Modulo’s first chapter with a spaceship large enough to carry 50,000 people across space using Cursed Energy manipulation. It is one of the most unusual instances of Cursed Energy usage in the franchise. It also means the destructive potential of Maru’s Cursed Technique is arguably the least interesting thing it can accomplish.
5. Yuka Okkotsu

Yuka’s entire fighting style is based on the Ten Shadows Technique, which is arguably one of the strongest natural cursed techniques in JJK’s entire history, and in Modulo, she is using it under the strictest possible circumstances.
With the Ten Shadows Technique, the user can call forth and control their Shikigami through their shadows, with Mahoraga sitting atop the entire hierarchy as the strongest and most uncontrollable Shikigami in JJK’s history. When Yuka revealed her cursed technique in battle, she didn’t hold back whatsoever. Her opening move was summoning Mahoraga, which tells you a great deal about her assessment of the opponent she was facing.
What works against her on this list is also what makes Yuka so interesting in the first place: she has a terminal brain tumor, and her usage of the Ten Shadows Technique has been declared forbidden due to its unpredictable power.
The Power Scaling Has Changed
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is not playing the same game as the original series. Gojo and Sukuna are no longer in the picture, the sorcerer population has been growing weaker over the years, but then came the Simurians with their warrior who managed to learn Reverse Cursed Technique, Cursed Technique Reversal, and Domain Expansion just by watching someone else fight. The techniques look stranger, the threat level is higher, and the series is moving quickly. As always, Gege is not making things easy for anyone.
