Which Straw Hat Crew Member Will Die? – Explained

Welcome back to another article of mine, today we will be discussing which member of the Straw Hats will die. Couple of years back Eiichiro Oda on an interview said that a member of the Straw Hats is going to die.

Many fans thought that the crew member that died is the Going Merry but I do not believe that Oda was referring to Going Merry as the straw hat that will die. Many writers before deciding to kill a character either for the plot or because the character isn’t doing as well as they hoped, the writer needs to test the water and see how the fans will react before doing such thing or else many problems will occur later during the season such as losing fans, increase plot holes or just killing the vibe of the story.

For example, I quit One Piece for about 3 months not wanting to hear anything about it when Ace was killed but after I resumed and continued the story, I was astonished as the One Piece story was just at the beginning and that prior to Portgas D. Ace was just the introduction to the real One Piece.

Now all the protagonists have a wonderful story on how they join Luffy and his adventure, no one has the same goal but they work with each other to make their own dreams come true.

Zoro was the first to join Luffy, he wanted to become the world’s greatest swordsman. He was a Pirate Hunter prior joining Luffy. Zoro became the right-hand man of the crew and is one of the most important crew members for the Straw Hats as he deals with the toughest opponents.

Our second crewmate is Cat Burglar Nami, the navigator. Where would the SHs be if it isn’t for Nami? She has the dream to make a sea chart of the World and that was the reason to join them. Let’s face facts, if Nami wasn’t part of the crew they might have never made it to this point. With her intelligence, sharp thinking and navigation skills, she is an undeniably a crucial member.

Usopp is the third to join the SHs. He is the sniper of the crew, creating tools for nami to useand takes care of the cannons for when the need arises although most of the time the SHs usually run out of battle with coup de burst or just deflect oncoming cannons to avoid damage to the Thousand Sunny. His dream is to be a brave warrior of the sea.

Fourth to join the crew was Vinsmoke Blackleg Sanji. He is the cook of the crew, without him the kitchen is either on fire or everyone is on the brink of starvation. Sanji’s dream is to travel to the All Blue, where the four seas meet and all the best fish are found. He is also the fifth member to leave the SHs, before him Usopp, Nami and Robin left willingly. Usopp left because he didn’t want to replace the Going Merry, Nami feared Arlong, betrayed them and SHs protected her and saved her from him whilst the same happened to Robin, she was saved from Ciphel Pol after abandoning them in Water 7. Whilst Chopper was forced to leave after losing the match in the Davy Back Fight but joined soon after Luffy won him back, Sanji was forced to marry Charlotte Pudding as a Political Marriage. The story is still ongoing, so we do not know if he will be back or otherwise.

Fifth came Chopper, the doctor of the crew and a crucial member to add as Luffy and Zoro always push the limit and end up damaging their body too much. Chopper’s greatest desire is to cure all incurable diseases as witnessing his mentor and “father” Hiluluk died of an incurable disease. He became Doctor Kureha’s assistant on Hiluluk’s last wish for Chopper.

Sixth is Nico Robin, the last Ohara person alive. She is an archaeologist, who’s dream is to know all about the Void Century and exposing it to the world to show what Ohara had to suffer from. Without her the crew will be in big trouble as no one knows how to interpret the Ponegliffs like she does. That was the only reason she had a bounty on her head of 77 million berries as a child. She abandoned the crew as Chiper Pol intercepted Nico Robin and took her away.

The seventh to arrive in the crew is Cyborg Franky. He is the shipwright, the only member who didn’t want to join the strawhats and was stubborn about it, he only joined after a good talk with Iceburg and was moved by what he had to say. He finally joined as his dream was to create a ship able to circumnavigate the entire world with his Thousand Sunny.

Last but certainly not least comes the eighth member, Brook. He joined reluctantly just after Luffy asked him to join without any introductions or what so ever but later he couldn’t honor the invitation as he had his shadow stolen and once he step foot outside of the shade, he would die.

Since the beginning of the series Luffy had in mind to recruit a musician, this would have been why he directly asked Brook to join apart from being a skeleton which is totally cool. His dream is to one day reunite with his old friend the whale Laboon. He couldn’t honor his promise and would do anything to accomplish his promise.

So, finally we are at the point to see who would be the less fortunate to end up losing their dream and die. In my opinion, it must be God Usopp. His dream is to be a brave warrior of the sea, he is a valuable member to the strawhats, even Oda said the after time skip Usopp is good as pre-time skip Zoro.

To fulfil his dream into becoming a brave warrior of the sea, he needs to sacrifice his life to the crew. I know, it is a harsh thing to say but let’s face it, Usopp is a coward but will give it all he has got and puts his life on the line when the need arises. It would make his sacrifice the best thing for him to be remembered as the brave warrior of the sea.

One last thing, Oda said that One Piece was meant to last for just 5 years. He didn’t foreshadow it to last any longer but if the needs arise to end One Piece and start a new journey he has already gave us a hint on what he might be venture into. So, for example if Oda decides to kill off Luffy to end the One Piece Saga, there is already another title for him ready Sora Sky Warrior.

It would be a story of a marine who can walk on water accompanied by a seagull and a transforming robot fighting the evil armies of Germa 66.

This is it! Sorry for the long post, hope you enjoyed it and comment below who you think might be the one who will end up dying from the Straw Hat crew.

Luffy Is Going To Destroy Fishman Island In One Piece

It has been prophesied by Madame Shyarly that Luffy will destroy Fishman Island but before that I will be discussing the road to Raftel and One Piece and how it all ties with why Luffy will destroy Fishman Island.

It all starts with a simple question why did Gol D. Roger travelled twice the Grand Line?

Roger and his crew were on a big hurry as Roger didn’t have much time and knowledge on where Raftel and One Piece are.

Gol D. Roger listened to “The Voice of All Things” to guide him to the One Piece. He first travelled the grand line and found out the story behind all the Ponegliffs. After he found Raftel, his journey should have ended but as he was an adventurous type just like Roger’s crew see the same thing in Luffy, he went to every single island to leave clues on the Ponegliffs to guide a worthy successor after him, he wanted to go back to check if what they interpreted was correct as they hadn’t the knowledge of Ohara scholars and also the clues on the Ponegliffs where left to fulfil the destiny of the Void Century that he couldn’t do as he was becoming weaker from his sickness.

After leaving the clues on the Ponegliffs he decided to disband his crew a year before his execution and gave them a specific task, mainly two tasks come to mind. The first one is to find a D worthy successor and the second is to remain stationary at crucial points where they can guide and give clues to him to the next adventure and find the One Piece.

This brings us to where Raftel’s location is. In the image above you see Raftel next to Reverse Mountain. There have been many theories suggesting that Raftel is a journey beyond the end meaning that Raftel was just in front of them before the journey started.

Just after going up the reverse mountain with their going merry and found Laboon, Crocus gave them the biggest hint “And the name of the island at the end of the route is… Raftel.” And he concluded by saying “It’s the last point on the Grand Line”

This all means that the island is found next to Reverse Mountain but you have to go all the way of the grand line to find it out. What strikes me most is how can one crew arrive to Raftel and then go back to travel the grand line. There is no way to climb up the Reverse Mountain and the only option is to travel by the calm belt which is the most probable way he did it as he had “The Voice of All Things” and could command Sea Kings to help him cross the calm belt either to the North or South Blue and then go up Reverse Mountain.

In all treasure maps X, marks the spot where the treasure is. Raftel is close to Reverse Mountain, the 4 Red Ponegliffs together, pin points the location of Raftel whilst the other Ponegliffs tells the story of the Void Century. There is just one hole in this story why does Gol D. Roger wants a successor? Why does he need to inspire pirates to venture the sea and what is so important on Raftel that will change the course of history?

The answer all lies on Raftel, where the Rio Ponegliff resides and this Ponegliff will answer all the questions. First off, it will tell us all about the Ancient Weapons and how they were used, who is responsible for the Void Century and you shouldn’t be surprised to know that the Nobles and the 20 kingdoms are responsible for that. Secondly, on the Rio Ponegliff there will be a shocking truth about what the D stands for and how the Nobles killed almost all of them just the way they did in Ohara with the Buster Call, this will make Luffy and the Strawhats mad.

His only option is to destroy Mariejois, by going back to the Grand Line, facing the Nobles and World Government. Similarly, to the Enies Lobby burning the WG flag, he alongside his allies will destroy Mariejois with most Nobles.

This is where Fishman Island comes to place, there are 2 options to how it will be destroyed. The first one is: As Fishman Island is very close to The Holy Land of Mariejois, it will suffer the aftermath of the destruction of Mariejois by tons of rock falling from above and hitting directly the air bubble and ending Fishman Island for good. Not forgetting that the Gorosei the head of the World Government reside in Mariejois and having no knowledge and this will be the biggest war according to an interview with Oda on One Piece some major destruction will be held more than what we have seen in Marineford.
